It feels so great to be on Adrianne’s blog. I am glad she was willing to be my publisher. Benjamin Book Publishing, LLC is dream come true. I would also be remiss if I did not thank the designers, Keshara Strother and Jayla Bolton. Their work is beautiful.
I know that you will find your formerly enslaved ancestor with my new book, “My Best Genealogy Tips: Finding Formerly Enslaved Ancestors.” It is full of oral history, records, and the process you must go by to locate your emancipated loved ones.
You get to travel with me to Union County, SC and Greenwood, SC where we search for Beverly Vance (1832-1899) in Fairview Cemetery. We were able to find Charlotte Vance Johnson (1863-1936) who was Beverly’s daughter. We also found
Jane Smith Johnson McCoy (1834-1919) who was Charlotte’s mother-in-law. Jane is my second great grandmother. Her children were double cousins with Vances’ I go beyond South Carolina to:
- DeSoto County, Mississippi
- Anson County, North Carolina
- Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama
- New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana
I hope you get the book so that we can talk about all the records and which of them you expect find ancestors. Go to Amazon.
